My name is Kalisia Culbert, and I am a graduate student at Liberty University, where I am pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I earned my Bachelor’s degree at Texas State University in Therapeutic Recreation. I am also a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) and have experience working with a wide variety of populations, including individuals with traumatic brain injuries and stroke, developmental disabilities, children and adolescents, and individuals receiving behavioral health services. These experiences have strengthened my empathy and compassion for individuals as they navigate life’s challenges and pursue meaningful change for their lives.
In our work together, my hope is that you feel genuinely seen and heard. I strive to create a warm and judgment-free space where you can pursue healing. I personally believe that the counseling relationship is not about me telling you how you should be. Instead, I believe it is my role to walk with you as you discover new things about yourself, challenge old beliefs that no longer serve you, and choose what you want for your own future.
In my counseling approach, I have experience implementing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients explore their automatic thoughts, beliefs, emotions. My clinical interests include narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, racial and cultural experiences, life transitions, identity development, and religious/spiritual trauma. I am particularly passionate about creating a space where people feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore the stories and experiences that have shaped their identities.
I am honored to have the opportunity to walk alongside you as you pursue healing and look forward to creating a space where you feel seen and supported. I am currently a counseling intern under the supervision of Danielle Bowman, LPC-S.
